Deputy General Counsel, Academic Affairs, Employment & Litigation

Josiah Heidt serves as Deputy General Counsel for Academic Affairs, Employment & Litigation in Legal Affairs, a unit of Georgia Tech’s Office of the General Counsel. He provides strategic legal advice in areas such as federal compliance, freedom of expression, legislation, general litigation, and student life. Josiah joined Georgia Tech in December 2025, bringing extensive experience from the University System of Georgia Office of Legal Affairs, where he served as Assistant Vice Chancellor, and from the Georgia Attorney General’s Office. His work emphasizes practical solutions that support Georgia Tech’s mission while navigating complex legal challenges. Josiah values collaboration and works closely with campus partners to address legal issues with clarity, integrity, and proactive problem-solving. 

Josiah holds a J.D. from Cornell University and a B.A. in History and Philosophy from Emory University.
